Doing business in the twenty-first century no longer needs space, warehouse, or department store like the good old days. Nowadays, we have information technology called the internet that can be delivered in millions of bytes per second to anywhere in the world with just a stroke of the finger. This makes it possible for Internet entrepreneurs around the globe to sell their information or products via online stores.
Successful Internet entrepreneurs such as Mark Cuban have made a fortune in the internet world. Prior to his success in internet businesses, Cuban worked as a bartender and software salesman. After he had sold his business, MicroSolutions to CompuServe, Cuban started an online Internet business – Broadcast.com. The idea for the business came from the fact that Cuban and his friends wanted to be able to watch their favorite sports via the Internet. In 1999, Cuban and his partners sold Broadcast.com to Yahoo for 5.9 billion.
Another successful Internet entrepreneur, Pierre Morad Omidyar, is the founder of eBay. Omidyar wrote his program over a long holiday weekend, and his auction site was up on the following business day. Initially, eBay was a site for auctioning used products, but since then it has become a site for shopping for both new and used products as well.
If you are computer savvy, you can create your own website. The monthly hosting fee may range from $4.95 to $9.95 per month, but the monthly revenue from advertisement can outweigh this cost. Otherwise, you can hire someone to create a website for you for a minimal fee of around $2,000.
