Michael Castello, the brother of David Castello, has made millions from owning domain names. But he was not always a millionaire. He started out as a young kid in Little Italy, a section of the Bronx in New York. When they were young children, the Castellos moved to Florida where he joined a band in high school with his brother and played the guitar. Their band, the Flying Tigers, won the South Florida Battle of the Bands, which at that time and place was no small feat. After that win, both brothers got the music bug and packed up a van and went to New York, where they lived and they rehearsed. Michael remembered living in an apartment above where the popular band Blondie rehearsed and they would fall asleep while listening to their music.

In the late 80s and early 90s, Michael became interested in this new thing called the Internet. He decided that he wanted to combine his music with the Internet and build a business off of that. That sent Michael down a road that would pull him away from the struggling musician and towards the title of millionaire. In 1991, Michael started a company named Powwow Productions for the purpose of promoting his music on the Internet. In order to do so, Michael had to learn a variety of web tools. He came across the Columbia University website where he was able to learn how to write HTML code, the basis behind all Internet pages. After realizing that, he realized that he might be on to something. If he knew how to write web pages, he just needed to have a domain name that people would want to search so he could create web pages that people would want to view. The rest is history!
