John Battelle co-founded the Web 2 Summit conference. He is the Executive Producer as well as the band manager with BoingBoing.net. He has founded other organizations. Battelle chaired at the Graduate School of Journalism at the University of California.
He is an author of books and online conferences, magazines, and other media businesses. He is a professor and a journalist as well. He was the editor of Wired magazine and Wired Ventures. John sits on the Board of Interactive Advertising Bureau and on the board of the school his children attend. He created Searchblog. This is updated daily and is online. He was recently named by Advertising Age as ”Innovator – One of Ten Best Marketers in the Business.” PC World named him as “Most Important People on The Web." The World Economic Forum in Switzerland named Batelle as a "Global Leader for Tomorrow."
John wrote "The Search: How Google and its Rivals Rewrote the Rules of Business and Transformed Our Culture." This became an international best seller and was published in more than 25 languages. This book was published by Penguin/Portfolio. He has appeared on national and international news channels. A few of the more familiar programs on which he appeared are CNN, BBC World News, Discovery Channel, DCNBC and PBS. He is appears as an expert in the field of search.
