Sergey Brin

Though most great companies begin with two people, one always seems to gather most of the spotlight. This is precisely the case when it comes to Sergey Brin and Larry Page. Though most people know that Larry Page is one founder of the internet company Google, many have not heard of Sergey Brin. Still, Brin has played a significant part in the founding of Google, and he happens to be the fourth youngest billionaire in the world ... something more than worthy of note.

Though he may be an American internet legend, Brin was born in Moscow to a Jewish family. Brin comes from a long line of mathematicians, and both his parents were well versed in the science behind numbers. When Sergey was just six years old, his parents moved the family to Maryland. Eventually, Brin studied science and mathematics at the University of Maryland, and he graduated with high honors in 1993. After completing a mater’s degree in 1995, Brin went on to attempt a Ph D. at Stanford ... a program that he is still enrolled in currently. Although Brin loved his scholastic work, he also developed an interest in search engines.

It was at Stanford University that Brin ran into co-founder of Google, Larry Page. Although Page and Brin did not get along at first, they began to realize that they both had a deep interest in search engines. As the two began to work together, they soon discovered that they could both contribute an immense amount to the internet. Forming a partnership, Brin and Page went on to develop Google, which happens to be the most popular search engine today.
