Putting A Face On Facebook

The internet has been growing in leaps and bounds since its inception. And even though there was a period of time when online businesses got a little ahead of themselves and caused the dot.com crash in the 1990s, the fact is that the internet itself has become more integrated in people's lives, not less so. This medium has become so entrenched in the lives of most Americans, that it would be foolish not to look at it as a positive business opportunity.

Some people have really capitalized on the potential that the internet has to offer. Mark Zuckerberg saw that people were using the internet as a means of getting to know other people from around the globe. There were online dating services, and chat rooms, but nowhere was really a social setting where people could go to connect with old friends and make some new ones at the same time. Thus Facebook was born. Within two weeks Zuckerberg had written the code for the computer program and the site was up and running. As a student at Harvard University, Facebook debuted among his fellow students on February 4, 2004. Within two weeks of the site's launch more than two-thirds of the school's student body had signed up. from there, Zuckerberg decided that he could launch Facebook among other schools as well. It next appeared at Stanford, Columbia, and Yale.

Today, Zuckerberg is a 23-year-old entrepreneur who is CEO of a company that owns four buildings in downtown Palo Alto, California. He is living proof that when it comes to the internet it doesn't matter what your age is, as long as you have a great idea and the dedication to see it through. The internet is full of limitless possibilities.
